गोरखनाथ के जीवन से सम्बंधित एक रोचक कथा इस प्रकार है- एक राजा की प्रिय रानी का स्वर्गवास हो गया। शोक के मारे राजा का बुरा हाल था। जीने की उसकी इच्छा ही समाप्त हो गई। वह भी रानी की चिता में जलने की तैयारी करने लगा। लोग समझा-बुझाकर थक गए पर वह किसी की बात सुनने को तैयार नहीं था। इतने में वहां गुरु गोरखनाथ आए। आते ही उन्होंने अपनी हांडी नीचे पटक दी और जोर-जोर से रोने लग गए। राजा को बहुत आश्चर्य हुआ। उसने सोचा कि वह तो अपनी रानी के लिए रो रहा है, पर गोरखनाथ जी क्यों रो रहे हैं। उसने गोरखनाथ के पास आकर पूछा, 'महाराज, आप क्यों रो रहे हैं?' गोरखनाथ ने उसी तरह रोते हुए कहा, 'क्या करूं? मेरा सर्वनाश हो गया। मेरी हांडी टूट गई है। मैं इसी में भिक्षा मांगकर खाता था। हांडी रे हांडी।' इस पर राजा ने कहा, 'हांडी टूट गई तो इसमें रोने की क्या बात है? ये तो मिट्टी के बर्तन हैं। साधु होकर आप इसकी इतनी चिंता करते हैं।' गोरखनाथ बोले, 'तुम मुझे समझा रहे हो। मैं तो रोकर काम चला रहा हूं तुम तो मरने के लिए तैयार बैठे हो।' गोरखनाथ की बात का आशय समझकर राजा ने जान देने का विचार त्याग दिया।

लक्ष्मण का त्याग

लक्ष्मणजी की भक्ति भी अद्भुत थी. लक्ष्मणजी की कथा के बिना श्री रामकथा पूर्ण नहीं है अगस्त्य मुनि अयोध्या आए और लंका युद्ध का प्रसंग छिड़ गया -
भगवान श्रीराम ने बताया कि उन्होंने कैसे रावण और कुंभकर्ण जैसे प्रचंड वीरों का वध किया और लक्ष्मण ने भी इंद्रजीत और अतिकाय जैसे शक्तिशाली असुरों को मारा॥
अगस्त्य मुनि बोले- श्रीराम बेशक रावण और कुंभकर्ण प्रचंड वीर थे, लेकिन सबसे बड़ा वीर तो मेघनाध ही था ॥ उसने अंतरिक्ष में स्थित होकर इंद्र से युद्ध किया था और बांधकर लंका ले आया था॥ब्रह्मा ने इंद्रजीत से दान के रूप में इंद्र को मांगा तब इंद्र मुक्त हुए थे । लक्ष्मण ने उसका वध किया इसलिए वे सबसे बड़े योद्धा हुए श्रीराम को आश्चर्य हुआ लेकिन भाई की वीरता की प्रशंसा से वह खुश थे।फिर भी उनके मन में जिज्ञासा पैदा हुई कि आखिर अगस्त्य मुनि ऐसा क्यों कह रहे हैं कि इंद्रजीत का वध रावण से ज्यादा मुश्किल था . लक्ष्मण ने 14 वर्ष तक न सोये और न खाया और न ही देवी सीता का मुख तक देखा क्योंकि उन्हों वो माता सामान मानते थे।।श्रीराम बोले-  परंतु मैं बनवास काल में चौदह वर्षों तक नियमित रूप से लक्ष्मण के हिस्से का फल-फूल देता रहा ।मैं सीता के साथ एक कुटी में रहता था, बगल की कुटी में लक्ष्मण थे, फिर सीता का मुख भी न देखा हो, और चौदह वर्षों तक सोए न हों, ऐसा कैसे संभव है ।अगस्त्य मुनि सारी बात समझकर मुस्कुराए॥ प्रभु से कुछ छुपा है भला दरअसल, सभी लोग सिर्फ श्रीराम का गुणगान करते थे लेकिन प्रभु चाहते थे कि लक्ष्मण के तप और वीरता की चर्चा भी अयोध्या के घर-घर में हो ।अगस्त्य मुनि ने कहा -  क्यों न लक्ष्मणजी से पूछा जाए लक्ष्मणजी आए प्रभु ने कहा कि आपसे जो पूछा जाए उसे सच-सच कहिएगा।प्रभु ने पूछा- हम तीनों चौदह वर्षों तक साथ रहे फिर तुमने सीता का मुख कैसे नहीं देखा ? फल दिए गए फिर भी अनाहारी कैसे रहे ?और 14 साल तक सोए नहीं ?यह कैसे हुआ ?लक्ष्मणजी ने बताया- भैया जब हम भाभी को तलाशते ऋष्यमूक पर्वत गए तो सुग्रीव ने हमें उनके आभूषण दिखाकर पहचानने को कहा ॥आपको स्मरण होगा मैं तो सिवाए उनके पैरों के नुपूर के अलावा कोई आभूषण नहीं पहचान पाया था क्योंकि मैंने कभी भी उनके चरणों के ऊपर देखा ही नहीं.चौदह वर्ष नहीं सोने के बारे में सुनिए -  आप औऱ माता एक कुटिया में सोते थे. मैं रातभर बाहर धनुष पर बाण चढ़ाए पहरेदारी में खड़ा रहता था. निद्रा ने मेरी आंखों पर कब्जा करने की कोशिश की तो मैंने निद्रा को अपने बाणों से बेध दिया था।निद्रा ने हारकर स्वीकार किया कि वह चौदह साल तक मुझे स्पर्श नहीं करेगी लेकिन जब श्रीराम का अयोध्या में राज्याभिषेक हो रहा होगा और मैं उनके पीछे सेवक की तरह छत्र लिए खड़ा रहूंगा तब वह मुझे घेरेगी ।आपको याद होगा राज्याभिषेक के समय मेरे हाथ से छत्र गिर गया था.अब मैं 14 साल तक अनाहारी कैसे रहा! मैं जो फल-फूल लाता था आप उसके तीन भाग करते थे. एक भाग देकर आप मुझसे कहते थे लक्ष्मण फल रख लो॥ आपने कभी फल खाने को नहीं कहा- फिर बिना आपकी आज्ञा के मैं उसे खाता कैसे?
मैंने उन्हें संभाल कर रख दिया।सभी फल उसी कुटिया में अभी भी रखे होंगे  प्रभु के आदेश पर लक्ष्मणजी चित्रकूट की कुटिया में से वे सारे फलों की टोकरी लेकर आए और दरबार में रख दिया॥ फलों की गिनती हुई, सात दिन के हिस्से के फल नहीं थे।
प्रभु ने कहा-इसका अर्थ है कि तुमने सात दिन तो आहार लिया था?लक्ष्मणजी ने सात फल कम होने के बारे बताया- उन सात दिनों में फल आए ही नहीं,
 1. जिस दिन हमें पिताश्री के स्वर्गवासी होने की सूचना मिली, हम निराहारी रहे।
2. जिस दिन रावण ने माता का हरण किया उस दिन फल लाने कौन जाता
3. जिस दिन समुद्र की साधना कर आप उससे राह मांग रहे थे,
4. जिस दिन आप इंद्रजीत के नागपाश में बंधकर दिनभर अचेत रहे,
5. जिस दिन इंद्रजीत ने मायावी सीता को काटा था और हम शोक में
रहे,
6. जिस दिन रावण ने मुझे शक्ति मारी
7. और जिस दिन आपने रावण-वध किया ।
इन दिनों में हमें भोजन की सुध कहां थी।  विश्वामित्र मुनि से मैंने एक अतिरिक्त विद्या का ज्ञान लिया था- बिना आहार किए जीने की विद्या. उसके प्रयोग से मैं चौदह साल तक अपनी भूख को नियंत्रित कर सका जिससे इंद्रजीत मारा गया ।भगवान श्रीराम ने लक्ष्मणजी की तपस्या के बारे में सुनकर उन्हें ह्रदय से लगा लिया.

No option !

 You have to give your all when you want to reach your goal,you have to be completely focused on your goal,you have to become a "no-option person." A "no-option person" has no other options:he or she has to make it or else; do or die,all or nothing! When you become that committed  ,you will make it happen because you have no other choice! There was a General who took his troops to a major battle on an a distant shore. As they approached the enemy he saw that they were outnumbered,and his troops were afraid because the enemy seemed so big and strong. But the General knew they had the potential to win. After they hit land he saw the fear and how the men were tentative in advancing, so he gave the order to "Burn the boats". They now had no other choices,no other options; they had to win or die. At that moment his troops became energized & fearless, because they had no other options. They fought and gave their all, and they won. We must develop a sink or swim , "no option" mindset, a do or die attitude. We have to make it happen. If you do,if you make that kind of commitment, then your dreams will come true, in fact they must come true! Why? Because you have no other option!

ईश्वर का विधान

एक बार ऋषि नारद भगवान विष्णु के पास गए। उन्होंने शिकायती लहजे में भगवान से कहा पृथ्वी पर अब आपका प्रभाव कम हो रहा है। धर्म पर चलने वालों को कोई अच्छा फल नहीं मिल रहा, जो पाप कर रहे हैं उनका भला हो रहा है। भगवान ने कहा नहीं, ऐसा नहीं है, जो भी हो रहा है, सब नियती के मुताबिक ही हो रहा है। नारद नहीं माने। उन्होंने कहा मैं तो देखकर आ रहा हूं,पापियों को अच्छा फल मिल रहा है और भला करने वाले, धर्म के रास्ते पर चलने वाले लोगों को बुरा फल मिल रहा है। भगवान ने कहा कोई ऐसी घटना बताओ। नारद ने कहा अभी मैं एक जंगल से आ रहा हूं, वहां एक गाय दलदल में फंसी हुई थी। कोई उसे बचाने वाला नहीं था। तभी एक चोर उधर से गुजरा, गाय को फंसा हुआ देखकर भी नहीं रुका, उलटे उस पर पैर रखकर दलदल लांघकर निकल गया। आगे जाकर उसे सोने की मोहरों से भरी एक थैली मिल गई। थोड़ी देर बाद
वहां से एक वृद्ध साधु गुजरा। उसने उस गाय को बचाने की पूरी कोशिश की। पूरे शरीर का जोर लगाकर उस गाय को बचा लिया लेकिन मैंने देखा कि गाय को दलदल से निकालने के बाद वह साधु आगे गया तो एक
गड्ढे में गिर गया। भगवान बताइए यह कौन सा न्याय है। भगवान मुस्कुराए, फिर बोले नारद यह
सही ही हुआ। जो चोर गाय पर पैर रखकर भाग गया था, उसकी किस्मत में तो एक आगे खजाना लिखा था लेकिन उसके इस पाप के कारण उसे केवल कुछ मोहरे ही मिलीं।वहीं उस साधु को गड्ढे में इसलिए गिरना पड़ा क्योंकि उसके भाग्य में आगे मृत्यु लिखी थी लेकिन गाय के बचाने के कारण उसके पुण्य बढ़ गए और उसे मृत्यु एक छोटी सी चोट में बदल गई। इंसान के कर्म से उसका भाग्य तय होता है।

Krishna and Uddhav

Why did Krishna not save the Pandavas when they played dice with Duryadhana & Shakuni?Wonderful explanation by Krishna himself:
From his childhood, Uddhava had been with Krishna, charioting him and serving him in many ways. He never asked for any wish or boon from Sri Krishna. When Krishna was at the verge of completing His Avatar, he called Uddhava and said,‘Dear Uddhava, in this avatar of mine, many people have asked and received boons from me; but you never asked me anything. Why don’t you ask something now? I will give you. Let me complete this avatar with the satisfaction of doing something good for you also’.

Even though Uddhava did not ask anything for himself, he had been observing Krishna from his childhood. He had always wondered about the apparent disconnect between Krishna’s teachings and actions, and wanted to understand the reasons for the same. He asked Krishna, ‘Lord, you taught us to live in one way, but you lived in a different way. In the drama of Mahabharat, in the role you played, in your actions, I did not understand many things. I am curious to understand the reasons for your actions. Would you fulfil my desire to know?’

Krishna said, ‘Uddhava, what I told Arjuna during the war of Kurukshetra was Bhagavad Gita. Today, my responses to you would be known as ‘Uddhava Gita’. That is why I gave this opportunity to you. Please ask without hesitation.’

Uddhava starts asking – ‘Krishna, first tell me who is a real friend?’

Krishna says, ‘The real friend is one who comes to the help of his friend in need even without being called’.

Uddhava: ‘Krishna, you were a dear friend of the Pandavas. They trusted you fully as Apadhbhandava (protector from all difficulties). Krishna, you not only know what is happening, but you know what is going to happen. You are a great gyani. Just now you gave the definition of a true, close friend. Then why did you not act as per that definition. Why did you not stop Dharmaraj (Yudhishtra)
from playing the gambling game? Ok, you did not do it; why did you not turn the luck in favour of Dharmaraj, by which you would have ensured that dharma wins. You did not do that also. You could have at least saved Dharmaraj by stopping the game after he lost his wealth, country and himself. You could have released him from the punishment for gambling. Or, you could have entered the hall when he started betting his brothers. You did not do that either. At least when Duryodhana tempted Dharmaraj  by offering to return everything lost if he betted Draupadi (who always brought good fortune to Pandavas), you could have intervened and with your divine power you could have made the dices roll in a way that is favorable to Dharmaraj. Instead, you intervened only when Draupadi almost lost her modesty and now you claim that you gave clothes and saved Draupadi’s modesty; how can you even claim this – after her being dragged into the hall by a man and disrobed in front of so many people, what modesty is left for a woman? What have you saved? Only when you help a person at the time of crisis, can you be called ‘Apadhbandhava’.  If you did not help in the time of crisis, what is the use? Is it Dharma?’  As Uddhava posed these questions, tears started rolling from his eyes.

These are not the questions of Uddhava alone. All of us who have read Mahabharata have these questions. On behalf of us, Uddhava had already asked Krishna.

Bhagavan Krishna laughed. ‘Dear Uddhava, the law of this world is: ‘only the one who has Viveka (intelligence through discrimination), wins’. While Duryodhana had viveka, Dharmaraj lacked it. That is why Dharmaraj lost’.

Uddhava was lost and confused. Krishna continues ‘While Duryodhana had lots of money and wealth to gamble, he did not know how to play the game of dice. That is why he used his Uncle Shakuni to play the game while he betted. That is viveka. Dharmaraj also could have thought similarly and offered that I, his cousin, would play on his behalf. If Shakuni and I had played the game of dice, who do you think would have won? Can he roll the numbers I am calling or would I roll the numbers he is asking. Forget this. I can forgive the fact that he forgot to include me in the game. But, without viveka, he did another blunder. He prayed that I should not come to the hall as he did not want me to know that through ill-fate he was compelled to play this game. He tied me with his prayers and did not allow me to get into the hall; I was just outside the hall waiting for someone to call me through their prayers. Even when Bheema, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva were lost, they were only cursing Duryodhana and brooding over their fate; they forgot to call me. Even Draupadi did not call me when Dusshasan held her hair and dragged her to fulfil his brother’s order. She was also arguing in the hall, based on her own abilities. She never called me. Finally good sense prevailed; when Dusshasan started disrobing her, she gave up depending on her own strength, and started shouting ‘Hari, Hari, Abhayam Krishna, Abhayam’ and shouted for me. Only then I got an opportunity to save her modesty. I reached as soon as I was called. I saved her modesty. What is my mistake in this situation?

‘Wonderful explanation, Kanna, I am impressed. However, I am not deceived. Can I ask you another question’, says Uddhava. Krishna gives him the permission to proceed.

'Does it mean that you will come only when you are called! Will you not come on your own to help people in crisis, to establish justice?’, asks Uddhava.

Krishna smiles. ‘Uddhava, in this life everyone’s life proceeds based on their own karma. I don’t run it; I don’t interfere in it. I am only a ‘witness’. I stand close to you and keep observing whatever is happening. This is God’s Dharma’.

‘Wow, very good Krishna. In that case, you will stand close to us, observe all our evil acts; as we keep committing more and more sins, you will keep watching us. You want us to commit more blunders, accumulate sins and suffer’, says Uddhava.

Krishna says.’Uddhava, please realise the deeper meaning of your statements. When you understand & realise that I am standing as witness next to you, how could you do anything wrong or bad. You definitely cannot do anything bad. You forget this and think that you can do things without my knowledge.  That is when you get into trouble. Dharmaraj’s ignorance was that he thought he can play the game of gambling without my knowledge. If Dharmaraj had realized that I am always present with everyone in the form of ‘Sakshi’ (witness), then wouldn’t the game have finished differently?’

Uddhava was spellbound and got overwhelmed by Bhakti. He said, ‘What a deep philosophy. What a great truth! Even praying and doing pooja to God and calling Him for help are nothing but our feeling / belief. When we start believing that nothing moves without Him, how can we not feel his presence as Witness? How can we forget this and act? Throughout Bhagavad Gita, this is the philosophy Krishna imparted to Arjuna. He was the charioteer as well as guide for Arjuna, but he did not fight on his own.’- Realize that Ultimate Sakshi/ Witnesser within & without you! And Merge in that God-Consciousness! Discover Thy Higher Self- The Pure Loveful & Blissful Supreme Consciousness! - Tat Tvam Asi!

ईर्ष्या

एक महान गुरु कुछ दिनों से अपने शिष्यों के बीच में बढ़ती ईर्ष्या को देखकर काफ़ी चिंतित थे।फिर मन ही मन उन्होंने इसका एक उपाय सोचा।गुरु ने अपने सभी शिष्यों को आदेश दिया  कि वे कल प्रवचन में आते समय अपने साथ एक थैली में बड़े-बड़े आलू लेकर आएं।
फिर अादेश दिया की आलुओं पर उस व्यक्ति का नाम लिखा होना चाहिए, जिनसे वे ईर्ष्या करते हैं।जो शिष्य जितने व्यक्तियों से ईर्ष्या करता है, वह उतने आलू लेकर आए।
अगले दिन सभी शिष्य आलू लेकर आए।किसी के पास चार आलू थे तो किसी के पास छह।गुरु ने कहा कि अगले सात दिनों तक ये आलू वे अपने साथ परछाइ की तरह साथ रखें। जहां भी जाएं, खाते-पीते, उठते बैठते, सोते-जागते, ये आलू सदैव साथ रहने चाहिए।
सभी शिष्य गुरु का अादेश सुनकर काफ़ी अचंभित हुए अौर कुछ समझ में नहीं आया, लेकिन वे क्या करते,गुरु का आदेश था तो सभी ने आदेश का पालन किया।
जैसे जैसे दिन बितने लगे शिष्य आलुओं की बदबू से परेशान होने लगे।जैसे-तैसे उन्होंने सात दिन बिताए और काफ़ी हताश, परेशान होकर गुरु के पास पहुँचे अौर उनसे इस क्रिया को करने का सही कारण जानने का निवेदन किया।
गुरु ने कहा, 'यह सब मैंने आपको शिक्षा देने के लिए किया था।जब मात्र सात दिनों में आपको ये आलू बोझ लगने लगे, तब सोचिए कि आप जिन व्यक्तियों से ईर्ष्या करते हैं, उनका कितना बोझ आपके मन पर रहता होगा।
यह ईर्ष्या आपके मन पर अनावश्यक बोझ डालती है,
जिसके कारण आपके मन में भी बदबू भर जाती है, ठीक इन आलूओं की तरह।इसलिए अपने मन से गलत भावनाओं को निकाल दो,यदि किसी से प्यार नहीं कर सकते तो कम से कम नफरत तो मत करो।। इससे आपका मन स्वच्छ और हल्का रहेगा।यह सुनकर सभी शिष्यों ने आलुओं के साथ-साथ अपने मन से ईर्ष्या को भी निकाल फेंका।

Be there !

The on-duty nurse took the anxious young Major to the bedside. "Your son is here," she said softly, to the old man lying there.She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.
Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Major standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Major wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.
The nurse, observing the touching moments, brought a chair so that the Major could sit beside the bed."Thank you Ma'am!" a polite acknowledgement followed. All through the night the young Major sat there in the poorly lit ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the officer move away and rest awhile.
He graciously refused.
Whenever the nurse came into the ward, he was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.
Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Major released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse.While she did what she had to do, he waited...Finally, she returned,- &  started to offer words of sympathy, but the Major interrupted her."Who was that man?" he asked. The nurse was startled"He was your father," she answered . "No, he wasn't," the Major replied ."I never saw him before in my life. "Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?""I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn't here!"
The nurse listened on, confused.
 "When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."
"So then what was the purpose of your visit here, at the hospital, good sir?",  the nurse queried of him. "I came here tonight to find a Mr. Vikram Salaria.  His son was Killed in J&K last night, and I was sent to inform him."The nurse stood listening in eerie silence...
 "What was this Gentleman's Name? ", the officer continued The Nurse answered with teary eyes...  "Mr. Vikram Salaria...!
The next time someone needs you ... just be there!

भाग्य

एक सेठ जी थे  - जिनके पास काफी दौलत थी. सेठ जी ने अपनी बेटी की शादी एक बड़े घर में की थी. परन्तु बेटी के भाग्य में सुख न होने के कारण उस+का पति जुआरी, शराबी निकल गया.  जिससे सब धन समाप्त हो गया. बेटी की यह हालत देखकर सेठानी जी रोज सेठ जी से कहती कि आप दुनिया की मदद करते हो, मगर अपनी बेटी परेशानी में होते हुए उसकी मदद क्यों नहीं करते हो?
सेठ जी कहते कि "जब उनका भाग्य उदय होगा तो अपने आप सब मदद करने को तैयार हो जायेंगे..."
एक दिन सेठ जी घर से बाहर गये थे कि, तभी उनका दामाद घर आ गया. सास ने दामाद का आदर-सत्कार किया और बेटी की मदद करने का विचार उसके मन में आया कि क्यों न मोतीचूर के लड्डूओं में अर्शफिया रख दी जाये.यह सोचकर सास ने लड्डूओ के बीच में अर्शफिया दबा कर रख दी और दामाद को टीका लगा कर विदा करते समय पांच किलों शुद्ध देशी घी के लड्डू, जिनमे अर्शफिया थी, दिये. दामाद लड्डू लेकर घर से चला, दामाद ने सोचा कि इतना वजन कौन लेकर जाये क्यों न यहीं मिठाई की दुकान पर बेच दिये जायें और दामाद ने वह लड्डुयों का पैकेट मिठाई वाले को बेच दिया और पैसे जेब में डालकर चला गया.
उधर सेठ जी बाहर से आये तो उन्होंने सोचा घर के लिये मिठाई की दुकान से मोतीचूर के लड्डू लेता चलू और सेठ जी ने दुकानदार से लड्डू मांगे.मिठाई वाले ने वही लड्डू का पैकेट सेठ जी को वापिस बेच दिया.
सेठ जी लड्डू लेकर घर आयेसेठानी ने जब लड्डूओ का वही पैकेट देखा तो सेठानी ने लड्डू फोडकर देखे, अर्शफिया देख कर अपना माथा पीट लिया.
सेठानी ने सेठ जी को दामाद के आने से लेकर जाने तक और लड्डुओं में अर्शफिया छिपाने की बात कह डाली...
सेठ जी बोले कि भाग्यवान मैंनें पहले ही समझाया था कि अभी उनका भाग्य नहीं जागा... देखा मोहरें ना तो दामाद के भाग्य में थी और न ही मिठाई वाले के भाग्य में...

इसलिये कहते हैं कि भाग्य से
ज्यादा
और...
समय

कृपा की शक्ति

महाभारत युद्ध चल रहा था। अर्जुन के सारथी श्रीकृष्ण थे। जैसे ही अर्जुन का बाण छूटता, कर्ण का रथ कोसों दूर चला जाता। जब कर्ण का बाण छूटता तो अर्जुन कारथ सात कदम पीछे चला जाता। श्रीकृष्ण ने अर्जुन के शौर्य की प्रशंसा के स्थानपर कर्ण के लिए हर बार कहा कि कितना वीर है यह कर्ण? जो उस रथ को सात कदम पीछे धकेल देता है। अर्जुन बड़े परेशान हुए। असमंजस की स्थिति में पूछ बैठे कि हे वासुदेव! यह पक्षपात क्यों? मेरे पराक्रम की आप प्रशंसा करते नहीं एवं मात्र सात कदम पीछे धकेल देने वाले कर्ण की प्रंशसा बार बार  करते है।श्रीकृष्ण बोले अर्जुन तुम जानते नहीं। तुम्हारे रथ में महावीर हनुमान एवं स्वयं मैं वासुदेव कृष्ण विराजमान् हूँ। यदि हम दोनों न होते तो तुम्हारे रथ का कभी अस्तित्व भी नहीं होता। इस रथ को सात कदम भी पीछे हटा देना कर्ण के महाबली होने का परिचायक हैं। अर्जुन को यह सुनकर अपनी क्षुद्रता पर ग्लानि हुई। इस तथ्य को अर्जुन और भी अच्छी तरह तब समझ पाए जब युद्ध समाप्त हुआ। प्रत्येकदिन अर्जुन जब
युद्ध से लौटते श्रीकृष्ण पहले उतरते, फिर सारथी धर्म के अनुसार अर्जुन को उतारते। अंतिम दिन वे बोले-अर्जुन! तुम पहले रथ से उतरो और थोड़ी दूरी तक जाओ। भगवान के उतरते ही घोड़ा सहित रथ भस्म हो गया। अर्जुन आश्चर्यचकित थे। भगवान बोले-पार्थ! तुम्हारा रथ तो कभी का भस्म हो चुका था। भीष्म, कृपाचार्य, द्रोणाचार्य व कर्ण के दिव्यास्त्रों से यह कभी का नष्ट हो चुका था। मेरे संहस्त्र के संकल्प ने इसे युद्ध समापन तक जीवित रखा था अपनी विजय पर गौरान्वित अर्जुन के लिए गीता श्रवण के बाद इससे बढ़कर और क्या उपदेश हो सकता था कि सब कुछ भगवान का किया हुआ है। वह तो निमित्त मात्र था। काश हमारे अंदर का अर्जुन इसे समझ पायें।

God is near

A group of 15 solders led by a Major were on their way to the post in Himalayans where they would be deployed for the next 3 months. The batch who would  be relieved waiting anxiously.

It was cold winter & intermittent snowfall made the treacherous climb more difficult.

If someone could offer a cup of tea. . the major thought, knowing it was a futile wish..

They continued for an hour before they came across a dilapidated structure, which looked like a tea shop but locked. It was late in the night.

"No tea boys, bad luck", said the major. But he suggested all take some rest there as they have been walking for 3 hours.
"Sir, this is a tea shop and we can make tea... We will have to break the lock", suggested one solder.

The officer was in great dilemma to the unethical suggestion but the thought of a steaming cup of tea for the tired solders made him to give the permission.

They were in luck, the place had everything needed to make tea and also packets of biscuits.
The solders had tea & biscuits and  were ready for the remaining journey.

The major thought, they had broken open lock and had tea & biscuits without the permission of the owner. But they're not a band of thieves but disciplined soldiers.
He took out a Rs 1000/- note from his wallet, placed it on the  counter, pressed under sugar container, so that the owner can see.

The officer was now relieved of his guilt. He ordered to put the shutter down and proceed.

Three months passed, they continued to  do gallantly in their works and were lucky not to loose anyone from the group in the intense insurgency situation.
It was time for another team to replace them.

 Soon they were on their way back and stopped at the same tea shop which was open and owner was present in the shop.
The owner an old man will meager resources was very happy to greet 15 customers.

All of them had tea and biscuits. They talked to the old man about his life and  experience specially selling tea at such a remote place.

The old man had many stories to tell, replete with his faith in God.
"Oh, Baba, if God is there, why should He keep you in such poverty?", commented one of them.

"Do not say  like that Sahib! God actually is there, I got a proof 3 months ago."
"I was going through very tough times because my only son had been severely beaten by terrorist who wanted some information from him which he did not have. I had closed my shop to take my son to hospital. Some medicines were to be purchased and I had no money. No one would give
me loan for fear of the terrorists. There was no hope, Sahib".

"And that day Sahib, I prayed to God for help. And Sahib, God walked into my shop that day."
"When I returned to my shop, I found lock broken, I felt I was finished, I lost whatever little I had. But then I saw that God had left Rs 1000/ under the sugar pot. I can't tell you Sahib what that money was worth that day. God exists Sahib. He does."

The faith in his eyes were unflinching.
Fifteen pairs of eyes met the eyes of the officer and read the order in his eyes clear and unambiguous, "Keep quiet".

The officer got up and paid the bill. He hugged the old man and said, "Yes Baba, I know God does exist. And yes, the tea was wonderful."

The the 15 pairs of eyes did not miss to notice the moisture building up in the eyes of their officer, a rare sight.

The truth is YOU can be God to anyone.

गृहस्थी की शक्ति

एक कॉलेज में शादी शुदा ज़िन्दगी के ऊपर एक  चर्चा हो रही थी, जिसमे कुछ शादीशुदा दंपति हिस्सा ले रहे थे।जिस समय प्रोफेसर  मंच पर आते है तो वो नोट करते है कि सभी पति- पत्नी आपस में शादी पर जोक कर रहे होते है और हँस रहे होते है.ये देख कर प्रोफेसर ने कहते है कि चलो पहले  एक खेल खेलते है. उसके बाद हम अपने विषय पर बातें करेंगे। सभी  खुश हो गए और कहा कोनसा खेल?प्रोफ़ेसर ने एक लड़की को खड़ा किया और कहा कि तुम ब्लेक बोर्ड पे तुम्हे जो सबसे अजीज और तुम्हारे सबसे नजदीक हो ऐसे कुछ लोगो के 25- 30 नाम लिखो.लड़की ने पहले तो अपने परिवार के लोगो के नाम लिखे फिर अपने सगे सम्बन्धी, दोस्तों,पडोसी और सहकर्मियों के नाम लिख दिए.अब प्रोफ़ेसर ने उसमे से कोई भी कम पसंद हो वैसे 5 नाम मिटाने को कहा.लड़की ने अपने सहकर्मियों के नाम मिटा दिए. फिर प्रोफ़ेसर ने और 5 नाम मिटाने को कहा. लड़की ने थोडा सोच के अपने पड़ोसियो के नाम मिटा दिए. अब प्रोफ़ेसर ने और 10 नाम मिटाने को कहा. लड़की ने अपने सगे सम्बन्धी और दोस्तों के नाम मिटा दिए.अब बोर्ड पर सिर्फ 4 नाम बचे थे जो उसके मम्मी- पापा, पति और बच्चे का नाम था. अब प्रोफ़ेसर ने कहा इसमें से और 2 नाम मिटा दो.लड़की असमंजस में पड गयी बहुत सोचने के बाद बहुत दुखी होते हुए उसने अपने मम्मी- पापा का नाम मिटा दिया..सभी लोग स्तब्ध और शांत थे क्योकि वो जानते थे कि ये गेम सिर्फ वो लड़की ही नहीं खेल रही थी उनके दिमागों में भी यही सब चल रहा था।अब सिर्फ 2 ही नाम बचे थे-पति और बेटे का.प्रोफ़ेसर ने कहा और एक नाम मिटा दो.लड़की अब सहमी सी रह गयी. बहुत सोचने के बाद रोते हुए अपने बेटे का नाम काट दिया.प्रोफ़ेसर ने अब उस लड़की को कहा तुम अपनी जगह पर जाके बैठ जाओ.और सभी की तरफ गौर से देखा.और पूछा- क्या कोई बता सकता है कि ऐसा क्यों हुआ कि सिर्फ पति का ही नाम बोर्ड पर रह गया।कोई जवाब नहीं दे पाया. सभी मुँह लटका के बैठे थे.प्रोफ़ेसर ने फिर उस लड़की को खड़ा किया और कहा. ऐसा क्यों ! जिसने तुम्हे जन्म दिया और पाल पोस के इतना बड़ा किया उनका नाम तुमने मिटा दिया.और तो और तुमने अपनी कोख से जिस बच्चे जन्म दिया उसका भी नाम तुमने मिटा दिया ?तो लड़की ने सुबकते हुए जवाब दिया कि अब मम्मी- पापा बूढ़े हो चुके है और कुछ साल के बाद वो मुझे और इस दुनिया को छोड़ के चले जायेंगे और मेरा बेटा जब बड़ा हो जायेगा तो जरूरी नहीं कि वो शादी के बाद मेरे साथ ही रहे।पर मेरे पति जब तक मेरी जान में जान है तब तक मेरा आधा शरीर बनके मेरा साथ निभायेंगे इस लिए मेरे लिए सबसे अजीज मेरे पति है.प्रोफ़ेसर और बाकी स्टूडेंट ने तालियों की गूंज से लड़की को सलामी दी.प्रोफ़ेसर ने कहा तुमने बिलकुल सही कहा कि तुम और सभी के बिना रह सकती हो पर अपने आधे अंग अर्थात अपने पति के बिना नहीं रह सकती हो.

The Parrot

There once was a man who loved to listen to a holy teacher, but never made the effort to put his lessons into practice.

Once his parrot, who could speak well, asked where he went every day.
The man replied that he would like to find out more about God and liberation and that was why he went to listen to a holy man.


The parrot wanted the man to ask the holy man the following question on his behalf: “How can I be liberated?”


The man put the question before the holy man, who immediately sank down to the ground, as if he suddenly passed out.


The onlookers were very angry with the man, as he had asked such a crude question and they asked him to leave straight away.


When the man came home, he told the parrot the whole story.


The next morning he found the parrot lying still in his cage. The man assumed that he was dead and opened the cage to take him out.


The parrot flew immediately to the branch of a tree, however, and said: “I understood the holy man’s message and now I’m free. It would be good for you if you too would follow the holy man’s instructions.”


We are like this man, who would like to hear or read about evolution through spiritual guide or book, but when it comes to applying or executing it we all resist to it, because of fear, laziness or the intellect that comes in a way.


In this story parrot is much more obedient to the holy man than the man who goes to holy man just to listen what he has to say. Spirituality is all about doing/applying and experiencing, to get the real knowledge.

The story of Saturn

श्लोक: मंदाय मंदचेष्टाय महनीयगुणात्मने। मर्त्यपावनपादाय महेशाय नमो नमः॥

According to the Hindu belief our life is governed by the planets. Each human being is influenced by the planets in his/her charts. Each planet is said to have its own plus points and drawbacks according to its placement.
As stated in the scriptures Shani or Saturn  is said to be the most slow moving planet of all. To cross one sign Saturn takes about 2.5 years. There is a very interesting story about as why Saturn moves slowly. The scriptures state that the reason behind the slow planatery movement of  Saturn is the fact that it limps and therefore takes more time than the other planets.There is a very interesting story about the same.
It is believed that Sun ( Suryadev)had a wife called Sangya ( Chhaya)  Devi. Sangya had children with sun and Saturn was one of them. Sangya Devi could not take the heat of Sun and she could not convey the same to her husband as well. Unable to take it anymore, she created a shadow exactly like her and named her “ Swarna”. She asked her to take her place and also take care of her kids too. Sangya Devi then left her for her father’s house. Swarna in the meantime did her duties so well that even Sun could not suspect that she was not his real wife Sangya but a shadow created by her. As the time passed Swarna gave birth to 5 sons and 2 daughters. Having her own kids she now gave less importance to the kids of her creator Sangya. One day when Saturn ( Son of Sangya) asked for food from her step mother, She retorted saying that “ first the food will be offered to God and then the younger siblings and then only he will get the food.” This made Satrun see red with anger. He lifted his foot to kick the food. Seeing this his step mother gave him a curse that since he insulted the food the same leg will break in pieces. Saturn froze as his heard his mother’s curse. He then went to his father Sun and told him about the curse. Sun Immediately understood that Swarna is an imposter, as no mother can be so harsh with her kids to give such a curse. He immediately summoned Swarna, who revealed the truth. Sun them said to Saturn that though Swarna is not your real mother, but she still is your mother so I cannot remove the curse but I can reduce its severity. He told that his leg would not be severed but it will be fractured. This is the reason as to why the Saturn limps and therefore walks slowly.

My take on the story: The Saturn is said to be the most feared and therefore the most misunderstood planet. The story gives us a little insight into his life. To me it is the perfect example of those appearances can be deceptive. One must never be judgmental about the others without knowing the real background of the person. Knowing the story can make you see a person or a situation in a better light and picture. Stories in the scriptures often have more than single motive. If read properly it gives a multi dimensional message

ईश्वर की गवाही

एक बहुत ही गरीब ब्राह्मण बाँके बिहारी जी का अनन्य भक्त्त था | एक बार कठिन समय आने पर उस ब्राह्नण ने गाँव के महाजन से कुछ धन उधार लिया और कड़ी मेहनत करके हर महीने थोड़ा थोड़ा धन लौटा देता | जब अंतिम किश्त चुकता करता उस से पहले महाजन का ईमान डोल गया | महाजन ने उसे अदालत का नोटिस भिजवा दिया यह सोच कर की ब्राहाण को धन लौटते किसी ने नहीं देखा और ब्राह्मण को लूटा जा सकता है | कई बार धन की लालसा इंसान को इंसानियत से गिरा देती है कुछ ऐसा ही महाजन के साथ हुआ |
अदालत के नोटिस में उसने लिखा की ब्राह्मण ने आज तक धन नहीं लौटाया और अब उससे पूरा धन व्याज के साथ वापिस चाहिए |
जब ब्राह्मण को इस बात का ज्ञात हुआ वह महाजन के पास गया और बहुत विनती की और सफाई दी की उसने पूरा धन समय से लौटाया था | परन्तु लालच से भरा महाजन टस से मस नहीं हुआ |आखिरकर मामला कोर्ट में पहुंचा |ब्राह्मण बिना डरे बोला की जज साहब मैंने इस महाजन को पूरा धन समय पर लौटाया है | अब तो आखिरी किश्त लौटने वाला था की इस महाजन ने नोटिस भिजवा दिया | साहब मै निर्दोष हूँ. जज ने पूछा की क्या तुम्हारे पास कोई गवाह है जिसकी उपस्थिति में तुम महाजन को धन लौटते थे |कुछ सोचने पर ब्राह्मण ने उत्तर दिया जी जज साहब मेरी तरफ से गवाही बाँके बिहारी जी देंगे | अदालत ने गवाह का पता पूछा तो ब्राह्मण ने बताया बाँके बिहारी , वल्द वासुदेव , बाँके बिहारी मंदिर वृन्दावन | उक्त पत्ते पर सम्मन जारी कर दिया गया पुजारी के पास जब सम्मन पहुंचा तो उसने बाँके बिहारी की मूर्ति के सामने रख दिया और बोला भगवान आपको गवाही देने कचहरी जाना होगा | गवाही के दिन एक बूढ़ा आदमी सचमुच मे जज के सामने आया और बता गया की पैसे देते समय मे हमेशा साथ होता था| और फलां फलां तारीख को रकम लौटाई गयी थी जज ने जब महाजन का वहीखाता देखा तो यह बात सत्य निकली
रकम तो लिखी गयी  थी परन्तु नाम फ़र्ज़ी डाला गया था | जज ने ब्राह्मण को निर्दोष करार देते हुए जाने दिया । जज के ह्रदय में हलचल मच गयी इस देव क्रिया को देख कर । वो स्तब्ध थाकि आखिर वह गवाह था कौन। उसने ब्राह्मण से पूछा। ब्राह्मण ने बताया कि बिहारीजी के सिवा कौन हो सकता है।इस घटना ने जज को इतना विभोर कर दिया किया कि वह इस्तीफा देकर, घर-परिवार छोड़कर फकीर बन गया। कहते है कि वही न्यायाधीश बहुत साल बाद पागल बाबा के नाम से वृंदावन लौट कर आया।

द्रोणगिरि देवता

धार्मिक रूप से किसी भी भगवान् को दोष  देना अपराध सामान है। परंतु उत्तराखंड के एक विशेष क्षेत्र के लोग आज भी इस सजा से नहीं डरते। चमोली जिले का द्रोणागिरी गांव हनुमानजी से आज तक नाराज है। उन्हें मलाल है कि लक्ष्मण को बचाने के लिए संजीवनी की तलाश में आए पवन पुत्र जड़ी बूटी के बजाय द्रोणागिरी पर्वत का एक हिस्सा लेकर ही लंका चले गए। ऐसी मान्यता है की द्रोणागिरी इस गाँव के पर्वत देवता है । और जो हिस्सा हनुमान जी उठा कर ले गए थे वो उन पर्वत देवता का दाहिना कंधा था। आज भी पर्वत देवता को कंधे का दर्द महसूस होता है ऐसा लोगों का मानना है।यहाँ के लोग अपने देवता के दर्द निवारण हेतु द्रोणगिरि पर्वत को ही पूजा करते है।और उस पूजा में स्त्रियों का रहना वर्जित है क्योंकि इस क्षेत्र में हनुमान जी भटक गए थे तब एक स्त्री ने ही द्रोणगिरि जाने का मार्ग बताया था।आज भी यहाँ राम लीला का मंचन नहीं होता।  गांव में मान्यता है कि रामलीला के मंचन से कुछ न कुछ अशुभ अवश्य होता है। यह "विश्वास" इस कदर गहरा है कि उन्हें लगता है कि यदि हनुमान का नाम भी लिया तो पर्वत देवता अवश्य दंड देंगे।
